The Nursery Manager writes…

Next month we will be welcoming two new apprentices to the Highwood Team – Pearl and Flora. Apprenticeships represent an important part of our recruitment strategy, enabling us to nurture the next generation of Early Years Educators. It also encourages our existing staff to adopt a spirit of continuous professional development. In other news, please make a note of our Christmas closure dates and staff training days. We don’t want any parent to be caught out by these.

Therapy Dog visit

Lola, the Brockenhurst College Therapy Dog, visited the Nursery recently. The children really enjoyed meeting her, stroking her and learning about what she likes.

Staff news

Congratulations to Sophie from Squirrels, who has just completed her level 3 qualification, giving her Early Years Educator status. Meanwhile, congratulations to Briony, who has been promoted to Room Lead in our Bunnies setting.

Halloween

The children have been enjoying a range of Halloween themed activities recently, as well as learning about the tradition behind the occasion.

Winter wear

Please ensure your child comes equipped for the winter weather, so they can enjoy the full range of indoor and outdoor activities. We recommend waterproofs, welly boots, warm hats and spare clothes.

School applications

If your child was born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020, they will be eligible to start school in September 2024. The application process opens on 1 November 2023. Please note that the deadline for applications is 15 January 2024. It is a good idea to keep an eye out for open days at your local schools. These may be bookable events. We will add open day information to the Famly newsfeed as and when we receive details. You can find more information and guidance on applications by clicking here
