September Newsletter

The Nursery Manager writes…

Hello and welcome to your September update from the team here at Highwood Nursery. The start of term is an exciting time because it is when we welcome new children to our close-knit community. Staff and children have been thrilled to see new faces starting at the Nursery this month. If you are from one of our new families, then I would like to take this opportunity to reassure you that we are always here to help with any queries and/or concerns you may have. Simply contact me or one of the team either online or in person.

Nursery open as normal

Christmas Closure

The Nursery will close on Wednesday 20 December for the Christmas break. We will reopen to children on Wednesday 3 January 2024.

Therapy Dog visit

Brockenhurst College’s Therapy Dog, Lola, will visit the Nursery on 16 October. Lola’s visits are always a welcome opportunity for children to learn about dogs and experience animal contact. Importantly, a letter was sent out regarding this visit. Please ensure you return the letter ASAP if your child will be present on 16 October.

Notice of family holidays

Please remember to give us at least two weeks’ notice of any family holidays you may have booked. This will ensure we can staff correctly and order the right amount of milk. If you have not made us aware of an absence, we will call you in accordance with our safeguarding obligations.

Attending another nursery

If your child starts to attend another setting alongside Highwood, please let us know. This is because it is important for us to liaise with the other nursery regarding your child’s development. We will ask you to complete a consent form to enable information sharing.

Famly pay function

Please note that direct debit payments will not automatically send through to us unless you have opted in to ‘automatic payments’. If you have not set this up or have chosen to opt out, you will need to send the money across manually each month. Automatic payments will be taken for the full amount on the fifth day of each month. Please note that voucher or tax free childcare payments will not be included with automatic payments. Therefore, it might not be the right option for you.

Baby & Child Resuscitation and First Aid for Babies courses

Two short courses, one on Baby & Child Resuscitation and one on First Aid for Babies, will be held on Saturday 14 October at Brockenhurst Village Hall on Highwood Road. The Baby & Child Resuscitation course will run from 9:00am to 11:00am. The First Aid for Babies course will then run from 11:30am to 1:00pm. Each course costs £15 per person. For further information or to book a place or places, please visit www.babyresuscitation.co.uk or email  info@babyresuscitation.co.uk
